eBay pricing API for your app

Use eBay sold listings to suggest a price in your own app. Search for the item, keep the rows that match, and show the middle price with the listings behind it. This is how reseller, crosslisting and inventory apps add a "price it" button.

#Build the price suggestion

1. Search with specific words. Brand, model and size beat a generic title. Add condition to match the seller's item. See Search inputs.
2. Wait for the job. Poll poll_url with ?wait=20 until status is complete. See Search jobs.
3. Take the middle price. Use the median of displayed_price.amount. It ignores the odd bundle or typo better than the average.
4. Show the comps. List a few rows with their link, so sellers can check the price themselves.

#Make it trustworthy

• Say what it is. "Based on 38 recent eBay sales" beats a bare number.
• Handle thin results. With only a few rows, show the rows instead of a suggested price.
• Displayed prices aren't always final prices. Best offers can lower what the buyer paid. See How prices work.
